FAQ and Product Care Info
Bamboo Push Poles
These push poles are constructed from bamboo, hardwoods, and composites, so by nature they will not last as long as a fully carbon push pole. With care, however, you will see several seasons (or longer) life from your bamboo pole. The following steps will maximize the life of your product:
- When not in use on the water, take the pole out of your push pole holders, and store the pole in a dry place out of direct sunlight. This will prolong the finish, and ensure it does not develop a permanent bend.
- Like all marine equipment, be sure to wash down your bamboo pole with fresh water after use.
- Staking out in the mud should only be done with the foot end of the pole, not the rubber-capped end, to avoid too much stress and possible splitting of the bamboo.
- If the finish on your bamboo pole ever wears off, simply give it a light sanding, and apply additional layers of varnish until desired finish is achieved.
Fly Line Stripping Buckets
Our fly line stripping buckets are built tough, but there are some steps you can take to ensure that your gear lasts for many seasons to come.
- The fly line buckets are constructed from HDPE, a durable plastic. However, just like your skin, they can sustain damage from UV exposure over the years. When not in use, be sure to store the bucket in a dry place, out of direct sun exposure. Additionally, UV protectant products like Aerospace 303, can be periodically applied to the bucket surfaces to shield from UV damage.
- Like all marine gear, please remember to wash down our products with fresh water after use.
What are the included zip-ties for?
- The zip ties can be used as fly line spikes at the bottom of the bucket if desired. Simply cut the ratchet head and about two inches off the zip-tie, then fold a one inch section of the cut end over itself and press fit it into the hole at the bottom of the bucket, so that the uncut end is pointing towards the sky. Repeat with other zip-ties as desired.
